The victim, a seasoned surfer, was rescued by friends and fellow surfers, but unfortunately, he had sustained fatal injuries from the shark. According to DPIRD, analysis of the surfboard indicated the attacker was likely a great white shark measuring between 3.4 to 3.6 meters (11–12 feet).

This is Sydney’s first fatal shark attack since February 2022 and only the fourth shark-related death reported in Australia this year, highlighting the rare yet serious nature of such incidents.
