Trump remarked, “I’d like China to help us out with Russia,” emphasizing his belief that Xi could influence Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the ongoing conflict.

China has remained Russia’s strongest ally since Western nations imposed sanctions following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. “Every time I speak to Vladimir, we have good conversations, but nothing changes,” Trump admitted earlier this week. In response, he introduced new sanctions targeting Russia’s two largest oil companies — the most direct US action against Moscow since the war began.
