U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Iran and Israel have reached a “complete and comprehensive” ceasefire, according to a report by the BBC.

The announcement was made on Monday night (June 23) through Trump’s own social media platform, Truth Social.

“If everything goes as planned — and it will — I want to congratulate both nations,” Trump said while declaring the ceasefire.

Referring to the recent conflict as the “12-Day War,” Trump stated that the ceasefire will take effect within the next six hours, during which both countries will begin winding down their military operations.

He added that the war will be considered officially over after 24 hours.

“This was a conflict that could have lasted for years and devastated the entire Middle East — but it didn’t, and it never will,” Trump said.

According to the BBC, Trump described the ceasefire as a major humanitarian and diplomatic achievement.

Qatar-based Al Jazeera also reported that the announcement marks a significant step forward amid rising regional tensions.

However, as of now, neither Iran nor Israel has officially confirmed the ceasefire.
