Pakistan Strikes India in Major Military Operation

May 10, 2025 – Pakistan has launched a large-scale military operation against India. The move follows Indian missile attacks earlier this week, which Pakistan calls unprovoked. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called an urgent meeting of the National Command Authority, the body responsible for nuclear policy and national security.
Widespread Violence Along the Border
Pakistan’s military began its operation, named Bunyan Marsoos, early Saturday morning. It targeted several Indian military sites across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Indian-administered Kashmir.
Loud explosions shook cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. Air raid sirens blared in Jammu and Kashmir. Fighting intensified along the Line of Control.
Military Installations Targeted
Pakistan said its forces hit:
- A BrahMos missile depot in Beas, Punjab
- Airfields in Pathankot and Udhampur
- Strategic locations near the LoC
Islamabad used Fatah-1 and Fatah-2 missiles during the strikes. The military claims these targets were involved in recent attacks on Pakistani civilians.
Earlier, India allegedly launched missiles at Pakistani airbases in Rawalpindi, Chakwal, and Jhang. Pakistan says it successfully defended those facilities and reported no losses.
Cyberattack Claims Emerge
State broadcaster PTV claims that Pakistan also launched a cyberattack. It reportedly targeted India’s national power grid. New Delhi has not confirmed the attack. Independent sources have not verified the claim.
World Powers Sound Alarm
The G7 group issued a joint statement urging restraint. They warned that continued escalation threatens regional and global security.
“Civilians on both sides face grave danger. Dialogue must replace military action,” the statement said.
Air Travel Disrupted
Pakistan closed its airspace to civilian traffic. India’s Indira Gandhi International Airport warned of delays due to tightened airspace rules and added security.
Meaning Behind the Operation’s Name
Bunyan Marsoos means “a solid structure of lead.” The phrase comes from the Quran. It symbolizes unity and strength in battle.
Backdrop of Rising Tensions
Last month, a deadly attack in Pahalgam reignited tensions. India accused Pakistan of supporting militant groups. Pakistan denies the claim.
Both countries now blame each other for starting the latest violence. India called Pakistan’s response “farcical.” Pakistan insists it is acting in self-defense.
Outlook: A Risky Road Ahead
The conflict has crossed a dangerous line. With missile strikes and cyberwarfare already in play, any misstep could trigger full-scale war.
Diplomacy is now urgent. Regional players and global powers must push for an immediate ceasefire. The stakes are high — especially with both sides holding nuclear weapons.
