Michel Bernier is a veteran politician. His age is not less – 73 years. He was the European Union’s (EU) chief negotiator on Brexit. He led several negotiations with the UK from 2016 to 2019. France held early national elections last June and July. No party got a single majority to form the government in that election. Bernier is the longest-serving prime minister since the establishment of the New Republic in France in 1958. Three years ago, he wanted to oust Machon as president of France. Michel Bernier will replace the current Prime Minister of France, Gabriel Atal. Makhon appointed Atal as the Prime Minister earlier this year. He has also been serving as the Prime Minister of France’s caretaker government since last July.
Meanwhile, the left-wing political alliance New Popular Front (NFP) has already expressed displeasure over President Makhon’s choice in choosing the prime minister. They won the most seats in the early elections held in July. They alleged that NFP did best in the elections but a right-wing person is being made the prime minister. A right-wing government is going to be formed in it.
