U.S. President Donald Trump has introduced a new 21-point Gaza ceasefire plan aimed at ending ongoing conflict in the region. The proposal was revealed during a high-level meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders in New York.
According to U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, the meeting was “productive and promising,” with Trump and senior officials outlining a strategy they believe could reduce violence in Gaza while also addressing Israel’s regional concerns.
Some of the main points in Trump’s plan include:
- Immediate release of all hostages in Gaza
- Establishment of a permanent ceasefire
- Governance of Gaza without Hamas influence
- Gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza
Arab diplomats welcomed the plan but suggested additional measures, such as ending Israeli occupation in the West Bank, maintaining Jerusalem’s current status, ensuring free humanitarian aid access to Gaza, and securing the release of Israeli hostages.
The talks followed a United Nations conference, led by France and Saudi Arabia, which pushed for international recognition of Palestine as an independent state. Analysts believe Trump’s initiative could become a turning point if all sides commit to constructive dialogue.
