A serious train attack shocked passengers on an LNER train from Doncaster to London King’s Cross on Saturday evening. Anthony Williams, 32, from Peterborough, has been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder following the incident. The train made an emergency stop at Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, around 8:00 PM.
Charges and Legal Action
Alongside attempted murder, Williams faces charges of actual bodily harm and possession of a bladed weapon. These charges relate to an alleged assault on a police officer in a custody suite after the Huntingdon attack.
Williams is also charged in connection with an earlier incident at Pontoon Dock DLR station, where he allegedly attempted murder and possessed a bladed article.
Police Statement and Investigation
Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy confirmed that supporting victims and investigating the attack remain the top priorities. The Crown Prosecution Service reviewed extensive evidence, including CCTV footage, to bring the charges forward.
Police are also examining potential links to other incidents, ensuring a thorough investigation.
Victims and Injuries
A railway staff member who protected passengers is in critical but stable condition, while 11 other victims received hospital treatment. Five of them are still under medical care.
