Kennedy, who has been dancing since the age of three, reflected on Copeland’s historic significance: “Eighty-something years ago, Black dancers weren’t allowed in leading roles. Misty changed that.”
Kennedy expressed her own aspirations, saying, “I hope to be a principal dancer one day and follow in her footsteps.”
