The Hong Kong Fire Services Department confirmed that nine people died at the scene, while four more succumbed to their injuries after being taken to nearby hospitals. At least 15 residents sustained injuries, and reports indicate that some individuals remain trapped inside the buildings.

Deputy Director Chan Derek Armstrong emphasized the extreme danger faced by rescue teams, noting falling debris and high temperatures inside the towers as major obstacles.

Residents Describe Chaos and Fear

Residents described the fire as chaotic and terrifying. Harry Cheung, a 66-year-old long-term resident, recounted hearing a loud explosion before rushing to evacuate his apartment. “I don’t even know how I feel right now,” Cheung said. “I’m just thinking about where I’ll sleep tonight because I probably won’t be able to go back home.”
